Renedes was founded
by a professional investment banking team whose careers spanned a combined 20-year of investing and managing risk in Global Emerging Markets.
We believe that Emerging Markets offer compelling investment opportunities due to their diversity, sometimes opacity and the disruptive effect of politics on macro and micro-economic trends. The analysis of these dynamics was always perilous and Western-based investors largely stayed away, resulting in strong investment opportunities due to scarcity in capital allocation.
Our Firm has currently EUR50 million in assets under management (as of September 2018) in long-only, absolute return investment strategies. We utilise a rigorous bottom-up, research-driven, value-seeking investment approach that seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns from income and multi sources of capital appreciation like yield and equity enhancements on special situations and long-term value from distressed and restructuring securities.
We currently have offices in London and Kiev.
Why René Descartes?
René Descartes (1596-1650) was a French philosopher, mathematician and scientist dubbed to be the father of modern Western philosophy. His theory on the dualism of mind and body is his signature doctrine and still pave the way nowadays for the analysis of behavioural finance. His mathematical legacy is huge also, having invented the analytic geometry (x and y axes) or the modern mathematical notation to show the powers or exponents (i.e. x2). The team has decided to name our investment find “Renedes” as homage and gratitude for Descartes’ legacy.
